SPECIAL TOPIC

Brand & IP

The manifestation of IP value is very closely related to corporate value and is a catalyst for a company's revenue growth.

According to the definition of the World Intellectual Property Organization, there are two main types of intellectual property, namely industrial property and copyright. Industrial property includes patents for inventions, trademarks, industrial designs, and geographical indications; copyright includes literary works (such as novels, poems and plays), architectural designs, and films.

For entrepreneurs, what concerns about them every day is expanding the value of their company's IP, such as providing brand awareness through marketing, developing unique products or solutions to market pain points through their R&D teams.

Oatly

In May 2021, Oatly, the world's largest plant-based milk company, went public on NASDAQ, valued at $12 billion at the time. This originally unknown company was able to break through in the highly competitive dairy market thanks to their successful branding and sales strategy.

By combining with Starbucks, Oatly has successfully brought its brand to the attention of the masses. This saves Oatly the marketing costs of introducing its products to unreachable consumers, and allows the brand to be implanted in consumers' minds in a short period of time through their trust in the barista.
